Huawei P30 Pro update brings Night Mode to front camera and more

Huawei has started rolling out EMUI version 9.1.0.193 to the P30 Pro in the UK, bringing the Android August 2019 security patch, night mode to the front camera and more.

The P30 Pro’s rear camera system is renowned for its night mode that allows users to take bright and detailed snaps when light is scarce. Night mode on the phone’s front does not work in the same manner as its rear. Instead, the device’s screen turns white and seemingly attempts to recreate a similar effect to a traditional flash.

Overall, the feature works well but is certainly not as effective as the night mode for the P30 Pro’s rear cameras that harnesses powerful software to produce a final image.

In addition to the camera improvements, the upgrade also integrates the latest August security patch and a video editing feature in the gallery app. It also brings improvements to the in-display fingerprint sensor, and support for the funky Huawei x Gentle Monster glasses for the enhanced gaming experience.

The size of the OTA file could be large, so make sure there is enough internal memory for installing the update.

The HUAWEI P30 Pro has taken an incredible step in mobile photography introducing the innovative HUAWEI SuperSpectrum Sensor, an optical SuperZoom Lens, a new HUAWEI Time of Flight (ToF) Camera, and enhanced optical and AI image stabilisation technology.

The unmatched Leica Quad Camera System features a 40MP main camera, a 20MP ultra-wide angle camera, an 8MP telephoto camera, the HUAWEI ToF Camera and a 32MP front camera. The new periscope telephoto lens allows more optical zooming capabilities to be tucked in a compact body without losing image quality.

Together with the colour saturation provided by the 40 MP main camera, and stability of OIS and AIS, the SuperZoom Lens offers 5x optical, 10x hybrid and 50x digital zoom with great resolution and rich detail.

The HUAWEI P30 Pro’s elegant double 3D curved glass body and 6.47” OLED Dewdrop display is both dust and water resistant and powered by the Kirin 980, the world’s first 7nm mobile process chipset. The P30 Pro also sports a class leading 4200 mAh battery, which lasts up to two days of regular phone use.
