O2 first carrier to bring the OnePlus to the UK High Street and monthly tarrifs
OnePlus has partnered with O2 in the UK to get the OnePlus 3 onto the UK high street. This makes O2 the first UK network to offer OnePlus devices directly.
Up until now, the only way to purchase the OnePlus 3 in the UK was to buy it SIM free direct from OnePlus. O2’s offering changes that, bringing the phone on monthly tariffs.
Carl Pei, co-founder of OnePlus said,
“we’re pleased to say that from September 29, the OnePlus 3 will be available on O2, a mobile carrier with a strong history of bringing the best new devices to market in the UK.
We chose O2 as our exclusive partner in this important market because they have a history of focusing on the most premium smartphones for the most savvy users, which aligns very well with our products and users,”
O2 had the exclusive on the Apple iPhone in 2007 and 2008, which is more than likely what Pei is referring to.
The OnePlus 3 will be available in O2 retail and online stores from September 29th on tariffs starting at £28 per month for 500MB of data and no upfront cost. It will also be possible to buy the OnePlus 3 off-contract. The big benefit to consumers is that once they buy a OnePlus from O2, they’ll be able to walk in to an O2 store and get support for their device directly from the carrier.
