Samsung Galaxy S9 to launch February 25 at MWC 2018

Samsung has officially announced Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2018 event and the invitations to the event are being sent out now.

Samsung will mark the launch of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 device with the Galaxy Unpacked celebration at 5pm GMT / 6 p.m.CET on February 25, 2018 during Mobile World Congress.

Live streaming of the Barcelona Unpacked celebration will be available at www.samsungmobilepress.com, news.samsung.com/global, and samsung.com/galaxy.

The Galaxy S9 is not expected to be as big of an upgrade as the S8 was from the S7, but it will still likely be one of the most important phones of 2018.

The GS9 will have extremely tiny bezels around its display with a metal frame and glass back, with a change to the placement of the fingerprint sensor being placed below the camera lens.

Samsung’s first phone to ship with dual cameras was the Galaxy Note 8, and as expected, this is a feature that’ll trickle over to the Galaxy S9 release. However, only the larger Galaxy S9+ is reported to receive this. The regular GS9 will retain a single camera. The Galaxy S9+ will also receive a small performance boost with an upgraded 6GB of RAM compared to the S9’s 4GB.

It is expected that the GS9 will launch on February 26 with pre-orders for the phone quick to follow on March 1. Shipments are rumoured to go out a couple weeks later on March 16.
