Nokia has announced that it is halting sales of the Nokia Lumia 2520 in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Russia, Switzerland and here in the U.K.
The manufacturer says that there are safety issues involved with the AC-300 travel charger. In the U.S., the Lumia 2520 is still being sold, but sales of the travel charger have been suspended. The accessory is made exclusively for the Lumia 2520 tablet. Nokia says that the chargers should not be used.
There are 30,000 units worldwide that are covered by the warning, including 600 in the U.S. The problem with the charger, which is made by a third party manufacturer, is that the plastic cover could come loose. If the cover comes loose, it would expose wires that could pose a shock hazard while the charger is plugged in. Nokia says that all other plugs for the tablet are safe to use.
So far, there have been no consumer injuries related to the charger.

“While there have been no confirmed consumer incidents related to this potential quality issue, product quality and safety are top priorities at Nokia. We apologize to the owners of the Lumia 2520, and we are working with urgency to minimize the inconvenience.”
