As we reported at the end of last month, BlackBerry today held a press event in New Delhi India, where the company launched the DTEK50 and DTEK60 Android smartphones.
The event was hosted by Narendra Nayak, MD BlackBerry India and Alex Thurber, Senior VP, Device Sales at BlackBerry, where BlackBerry also announced a new distribution partnership with Optiemus.
While BlackBerry DTEK 50 will retail at Rs 21,990; the higher specced DTEK60 is priced at Rs 46,990. DTEK50 will be available in stores starting this weekend while the DTEK60 will be available to purchase by the end of November.
Last June, BlackBerry reiterated their position in India, partnering with HCL Infosystems, a leading VAR with coverage across 15,000 towns in 664 districts in India, further expanding the company’s software vendor and solution portfolio.
At the time, Richard McLeod, Vice President Global Channels at BlackBerry stated that India was still a priority for the company,
“India is a priority for BlackBerry’s enterprise software business and we are focused on delivering the best possible experience to our business customers in this market.
By working with an established partner like HCL Infosystems in India, we aim to create growth for our partners while giving our customers wider access to our leading suite of enterprise solutions with world-class support, helping organizations advance their mobility strategies.”
At today’s event, Narendra Nayak stated,
“The company now has four pillars: enterprise solutions, technology solutions, secure messaging and secure handsets,”
Alex Thurber said the company takes its tag line of securely connecting the world very seriously. Now, this function spears across all operating systems and platforms and is not limited to BB OS like before.
““As we are continuing to implement a new strategic direction for our Mobility Solutions business, we will continue to leverage third parties to distribute and market BlackBerry handsets,”
“What you have on your phone is your life,”
