At this year’s Mobile World Congress Chemring Technology Solutions will be demonstrating SmartSwitch, the world’s first true policy-on-the-device app, and SmartLink, a portable network-in-a-box with a 10km range.
Chemring will be demonstrating SmartSwitch’s latest features, which support the deployment of Wi-Fi First and Voice over Wi-Fi services. New this year, is the introduction of intelligent, policy-managed ePDG (Evolved Packet Data Gateway) integration, which supports the addition of Wi-Fi infrastructure into the service provider’s core network. With patents for policy controlled access selection now fully granted in the USA, SmartSwitch is now the region’s industry leading policy managed Wi-Fi solution.
In evaluations by the largest global mobile network and cable operators, SmartSwitch’s policy-driven access technology is repeatedly proven to offer the most comprehensive network management capability on the market. SmartSwitch has been awarded contracts by customers in North America, Europe and the Middle East, and has been trialled in South America and the Far East. It now has ANDSF and access selection integration with five of the top 10 policy management vendors.
SmartLink is a complete, self-contained cellular network-in-a-box that can be deployed in less than 90 seconds. Designed specifically for use by public safety personnel, mobile network operators and first responders, SmartLink provides an instant-on networking experience with enhanced voice and data services to users. Its small form factor, long range and low power consumption is unrivalled in the market, and it has been successfully trialled across the globe.

The world’s first true policy-on-the-device app, SmartSwitch allows operators to implement next generation multi-access data services with added capabilities for the monetisation of Wi-Fi and collection of advanced device-centric data. SmartLink
When the local mobile infrastructure is unavailable, SmartLink delivers a self-contained communications network to share voice, data and video information between its users. Its ability to provide instant-on private networking between rescue teams, first responders and emergency services, using equipment contained in a backpack, sets it apart from all other solutions. This unique capability provides the communication backhaul needed for team collaboration and safety. Its uses include policing large events, national border security, humanitarian aid and public safety operations, where the existing commercial mobile network coverage may be unreliable or non-existent.
