HTC replaces Peter Chou as CEO with Chairwoman Cher Wang

HTC has announced that Chairwoman Cher Wang will replace Peter Chou as its CEO.

Chou, who also held the title of president, will remain at the company in a new role as head of the HTC Future Development Lab, the company said in a statement.

“Over the last two years, Ms. Wang had been increasingly involved in the running of various aspects of the business, to allow Mr. Chou to focus on product development,” it said.

“The Board of Directors and executive team agreed that it was now appropriate to formalize that progression.”

Wang said in a statement:

 “As an entrepreneur at heart, I am excited to see so many new opportunities, and I am honoured to accept this opportunity to help shape the next stage of HTC’s development,” 

Wang had last year been handed some of Chou’s CEO responsibilities in what was then called a temporary move.
