Qualcomm has announced that it is renaming Snapdragon 620 and 618 to the Snapdragon 652 and 650, respectively.  The reason for this change is to separate these two chips from lower-end ones in the same line.
The 650 and 652 feature 4K Ultra HD video capture, advanced X8 LTE modems with carrier aggregation support, and Cortex-A72 CPU cores.
For these reasons, Qualcomm felt it was necessary to push them far ahead of the others in the 600 tier.
