Mazda is now offering owners of older vehicles the ability to upgrade their infotainment systems to ones that are compatible with both Apple's CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto. Vehicles equipped with Mazda Connect from the 2014 model year and newer are eligible for a dealer-installed upgrade with smartphone integration capabilities. But it's not a free update.
Mazda has announced that its 2018 Mazda 6 mid-size sedan will soon be Apple CarPlay- and Android Auto-compatible = and retrofittable. Beginning in September, dealers will be able to retrofit Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature trim levels of its mid-size sedan with a kit that adds Apple and Android compatibility to the automaker's built-in infotainment system.
Mazda has announced it will add Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility to its line-up, though timing is still to be confirmed.
