Back in March of 2019, BlackBerry set up a completely separate subsidiary in Washington, D.C., to strengthen the company’s ties with critical U.S. federal agencies that require highly secure cloud-based services. In June 2019, the company’s new BlackBerry Government Mobility Suite achieved Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Ready status.
The company today announced that its BlackBerry Government Mobility Suite has now achieved FedRAMP authorization.
“BlackBerry is extremely proud to offer our Federal customers the BlackBerry Government Mobility Suite FedRAMP-authorized cloud service. A FedRAMP authorization provides Federal agencies and contractors the peace of mind that a cloud solution can be trusted to meet the stringent cybersecurity capabilities and processes required to handle federal data,” said Rear Admiral Bob Day, U.S. Coast Guard (ret), President of BlackBerry Government Solutions.
“This means employees can work efficiently, as well as communicate and collaborate securely, to conduct the business of the U.S. government from anywhere and on any device.”
FedRAMP has an established marketplace of the types of solutions that Federal Agencies need. This market promotes reusability to save money and time for Agencies and industry.
Listed on FedRAMP’s Marketplace, the BlackBerry Government Mobility Suite is based on BlackBerry UEM and provides IT administrators with a single, integrated view of users, devices, applications, and policies across multi-OS endpoints and ownership models.
BlackBerry’s portfolio of FedRAMP-authorized cloud products also includes BlackBerry AtHoc crisis communication and BlackBerry Protect AI-based endpoint security solutions.
To date, BlackBerry has received 14 Authorities to Operate (ATOs) from Federal agencies including Department of Energy, Department of Homeland Security, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, National Science Foundation and Office of Personnel Management.
FedRAMP is a government program which requires cloud service provider (CSP) organisations to facilitate an independent third-party security assessment to determine if their product or service meets a series of security and controls management requirements to be eligible to host government data.
