Yota Devices has announced that they have signed an agreement with China’s ZTE to manufacture the next-generation YotaPhone, YotaPhone 3.
Previously, YotaPhone smartphones were produced at Hi-P factory in Singapore.
“The partnership involves the production of new generation of YotaPhone smartphones, as well as the development and integration of mobile services and software,” the company’s report said.
At the same time the special edition of YotaPhone will be assembled in Russia.
“We also decided to choose the Russian product for the presentation and launch of our mobile applications,” ZTE Health Technology President He Shiyou said.
As of July, ZTE was the fifth best selling smartphone manufacturer in the world, behind only Samsung, Nokia, Apple, and LG; and, ZTE has a growing footprint in North America as well.
The YotaPhone 2 smartphone is a traditional Android phone on the front, and on the back it has an eInk display to make reading easier and battery life better by limiting use of the traditional display.
YotaPhone 3 will be available in the Q1 of 2016, but the exact date has not been announced yet, the company said.
