LG has released a promotional video of the upcoming LG Velvet, revealing the design in full. The new 3D Arc design, as LG calls it, looks premium with a glossy look and a gradient finish that will be available in four colors.
LG Velvet will be the first device to implement the company’s new branding strategy for its mobile devices, moving away from alphanumerical designations in favor of familiar and expressive names. The name “velvet” is intended to evoke images of lustrous smoothness and premium softness, two key characteristics of the new phone.
“Our new branding reflects current trends of addressing the unique personal tastes and emotions of the individual with a greater emphasis on design,” said Chang Ma, senior vice president of product strategy at LG Mobile Communications Company.
“It’s a more intuitive approach that we are confident will resonate with today’s consumers and help us to establish a clearer brand identity.”
LG has dropped the rear fingerprint scanner on the rear for a more seamless look with the new signature ‘raindrop’ triple camera array and flash taking focal attention. The main camera is slightly raised with the rest flush with the body in an approach deliberately design to eschew the trend towards large and unsightly camera bumps.
On the front is a minimal teardrop camera cut out with an otherwise all-screen approach with minimal front bezels. All that remains to be revealed is the all-important pricing details and regional availability.
The phone runs on a Snapdragon 765 processor, and the 3D Arc Design refers to the symmetrically curved display. The Velvet comes in Aurora White, Aurora Grey, and Aurora Green.
LG Velvet will have a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the bottom and two stereo speakers. The set has three sets of buttons with a Sim card tray placed on top of the frame.
The display size comes in at 6.9 inches with a 48 MP main camera, and a 4,000 mAh battery.
