Telegram for iOS brings Silent Messages, Slow Mode, Dark Mode and More

Telegram has rolled out a new update, bringing features like Silent Messages, Slow Mode, Admin Titles, and more.

Users can send messages silently. To use this feature, users need to simply hold the Send button and choose to deliver the message or media without sound and the receiver will get a notification as usual, but their phone won’t make a sound even if they are not in Do Not Disturb mode.

Another feature is Slow Mode. Here, the admin chooses a time interval, then users will only be able to send one message in that time frame. A timer is present to show how long the user has to wait before sending another message.

Slow Mode can make conversations in the group more orderly, while raising the value of each individual message. Keep it on permanently, or toggle as necessary to throttle rush hour traffic. Slow Mode can be found under the ‘Group Permissions’ section.

Group owners can now set custom titles for admins like ‘Meme Queen’, ‘Spam Hammer’ or ‘El Duderino’. As with the default admin labels, custom titles are shown with every message in the group so members know that they‘re talking to the designated ’Myth Buster’.

Users can now choose different accent colours for dark themes. (Settings > Appearance).

A new Comments Widget has been implemented which brings the ability for web site owners to add a comments widget to their website. This uses the ‘Comments.App’ and ‘DiscussBot’. With the widget in place, Telegram users will be able to log in with just two taps and leave comments with text and photos, as well as like, dislike and reply to comments from others.
