CESG issues fresh security guidance for deploying BlackBerry 10.3

The Communications and Electronics Security Group (CESG) has issued fresh security guidance to aid companies to safely deploy BlackBerry 10.3.

The updated guidance is part of the Cabinet Office’s End User Device Security Framework. It provides details on how each platform can be configured to meet the initiative’s security recommendations, and also offers a breakdown of the threats and security issues around each of the operating systems.

The guidance aims to “take a balanced approach between security and usability for remote or mobile working devices” by helping to reduce common risks to an organisation’s information while still providing flexibility and ease of use.

The CESG noted the guidance is not an endorsement for BlackBerry 10.3 and is only designed to help improve the UK’s overall cyber security.

This is the latest update to the guidance since the CESG issued security guidance to aid companies to safely deploy BlackBerry 10.2.1.
