Enterprise Software and Services Sales Exec, Eric Johnson, Leaves BlackBerry

Eric Johnson, the executive in charge of BlackBerry’s enterprise software and services sales to government and business customers, has left the company.

In January 2014, Johnson joined BlackBerry from SAP as President, Global Sales reporting to BlackBerry’s Executive Chair and CEO, John Chen.

However, after slightly more than a year in the position, Johnson was  demoted on the heels of poorer-than-expected third quarter results and as part of a broader set of management changes at the company.

At that point in time, BlackBerry stated that Johnson would:

“focus on driving enterprise sales, deepening our relationships with enterprise customers and ensuring the company’s server software and portfolio of services are meeting expectations in a new role”

Nearly another year later, and he has now left the company.

Johnson was Senior Vice President and General Manager for SAP’s Global Database and Technology. Prior to that, Eric was Senior Vice President and General Manager of Platform and Analytics Sales for North America, also at SAP.

BlackBerry confirmed that Johnson had left the company but gave no reason, or any news of who his replacement will be.
