Tesla plans for Bradford car park approved

16 EV charging points in the car park of the Cedar Court Hotel

TESLA’S plans to install a bank of electric car charging bays in Bradford have been approved.

In August the company submitted a planning application for 16 EV charging points in the car park of the Cedar Court Hotel, also known as the West Yorkshire Conference and Events Centre.

The company said the hotel, near the M606, was ideally located for new EV infrastructure.

Three letters of support were sent to the Council, with one saying the site was perfectly located for people to charge their cars between coming off the motorway and travelling towards the Yorkshire Dales.

Planning officers have now approved the application, saying:

“The provision of this facility will help to facilitate the transition to electric vehicles within Bradford and the surrounding West Yorkshire region.

“The facility will require a large amount of energy to power the charging points.

“The applicant should be certain that this demand can be met without negative implications for the energy supplies in this part of the district.

“Subject to a sufficient energy supply being available to power the site the Clean Air Programme team have not raised any objections to the proposal and welcome the addition of further ultra-rapid chargers in the district.”
