Sony release Lifelog API for Developers

Sony has released their Lifelog API for developers to begin using valuable logging data.

The Lifelog API gives developers secure access to the lifestyle data of your users. This way, you can provide your users with insight and inspire smarter choices based on their physical activities, app usage and location. Of course, the user has full control and must approve to share data with your app.

With the Lifelog app from Sony, users can log their life through sensors in their smartphone and connected SmartWear devices. The Lifelog app uploads the data to the Lifelog platform data store, and with the Lifelog API, you as a developer can access this data through the endpoints User profile, Activities and Location.

The Lifelog API is a REST-based web-service API which can be used to query the Lifelog platform data store. Using standard OAuth2 authentication over secure SSL communication, you can make API calls on behalf of your users’, as long as you get their explicit approval. All data is returned in JSON format The Lifelog API comes with the following assets:

  • Tools to register and manage your applications.
  • Documentation including a guide to get started.
  • API explorer to try out the API online.
  • In-depth guides to how to use the API.
  • Attribution and branding guidelines and resources.
  • API status dashboard.

To get started with the Lifelog API and learn more, go to the Lifelog API pages. Once you have registered an application, you can start sending calls to the API right away.

The Lifelog app is preloaded on Sony smartphones and the Smartwatch 3, and can be downloaded for free on all other Android devices.
