The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge is now available for users in the UK. This update includes performance improvements, bug fixes and new features. The new features include photo exposure controls, app organization based on alphabetical order, the ability to remove QuickConnect and S Finder from the notification shade and wallpaper motion effects.
Exposure Slider In The Camera App
When you open the camera app and tap on the subject, you will notice a new exposure slider. Sliding the light bulb icon increases or decreases the exposure.
Alphabetizing App Icons
To keep your apps organized, the update includes the ability to alphabetize them. You will see this option when you open the quick settings option in the notification shade and tap on “Edit.†The A-Z button lets you organize the apps alphabetically. As you download new apps, the home screen should still keep all of the apps alphabetized.
Removing QuickConnect And S Finder From Notification Shade
The ability to remove QuickConnect and S Finder from the notification shade is one of the most highly anticipated features in Android 5.1.1. By removing those apps from the notification shade, it simply gives you more space. To remove QuickConnect and S Finder from the notification shade, click on “edit†and remove the ticks from the boxes for those apps.
Parallax Wallpaper
The ability to control the new parallax wallpaper effect has been added through the software update. This feature appears to change the angle of the wallpaper and icons as you tilt the phone back-and-forth giving it a 3D effect.
Guest Mode
A Guest Mode feature is built into Android 5.1.1  which allows you to switches modes if a family member or friend wants to use your device. This prevents other people from seeing your messages, apps, photos and settings. After returning back to your account, the data from the guest session is erased.
Notification Tray
There is also a new notification tray feature that involves saving the incoming notifications. When you receive a notification and swipe up, it stays locked in the notification tray. If you swipe a notification left or right, then it is dismissed as usual. To adjust the settings of your notifications, open “sound and notification†and decide which apps should have the ability to ping your phone.
The update is available via Kies and OTA. You can check if it’s available by hitting the Check now button in the Settings » About device » Software updates menu on your Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.
