Xiaomi has announced the Redmi 2, an affordable smartphone with LTE and a 64-bit Qualcomm chip.
The specs include a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 clocked at 1.2 GHz, a 720p IPS display sized at 4.7 inches, a gigabyte of RAM, 8GB of storage (with microSD expansion available), an 8MP camera, a 2,200 mAh battery pack.
It has Dual SIM support with 4G LTE  (TDD-LTE (B38/B39/B40 /B41), FDD-LTE (B3 / B7) on both the SIM cards.
As far as pricing and availability is concerned, the Redmi 2 is available for just 699 Yuan (US$112 currently), which is a very good deal considering the specifications and market.
It will run Xiaomi’s MIUI 6 version of Android.
It’ll arrive in China on January 9 in White, Dark gray, Bright Yellow, Light Green and Pink colors, with other Asian expansion to be expected shortly afterward.
In addition to today’s unveiling, it plans to launch its newest flagship Mi phone at an event in Beijing on January 15. We can also expect it to begin selling outside of Asia for the first time this year.
