Huawei HiCar Smart Screen

Huawei launches HiCar-enabled smart in-car display

Huawei has launched a smart in-car display, which is the first aftermarket-installed product powered by HUAWEI HiCar, the company’s self-owned solution for auto smart connectivity.

Based on distributed technology, HUAWEI HiCar is able to form a connection between Apps in a mobile phone and Huawei’s newly-launched smart screen, according to Huawei. Apps can be automatically connected to the display as long as the pairing is made when a user uses the screen for the first time.

By virtue of the audio-to-video separation, the data about image and sound can be transferred via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. For instance, if the linkage between an App and a vehicular audio system was formed before the intelligent display is applied, a user does not need to change the original connection method after the introduction.

Huawei’s in-car smart screen uses an 8.9-inch IPS screen. It has a 6mm narrow frame, a resolution of 1920×720 and a UI design. Its front camera can record 2160x1440P driving video.

Its brightness is as high as 700 nits. It also comes with an automatic light-sensing system to adjust the brightness of the screen. When driving in a variety of weather conditions, you can clearly view the guidance information displayed on the screen.

With 16.7 million colours and 72% NTSC colour gamut IPS screen, the picture is rich in colour. Plus, the screen surface is etched to prevent glare and reduce light and shadow.

The in-car smart screen adopts a four-leaf clover base design. It can be adapted to more centre consoles to meet the needs of users of different models. The connection between the screen and the base adopts the gimbal head structure used by professional SLR cameras. It supports 360° infinite rotation and can adjust the angle at will.

Besides, the display also adopts a camera available for multi-lane driving record thanks to an F1.8 large aperture and a 135 degree wide-angle lens and sports the country’s first cockpit lift camera. In addition to supporting normal calls, it can also realize Huawei smartphone video calls and Huawei cloud conference functions through the internal lift camera.

Its front camera can record 2160x1440P quality driving video. The camera has an F1.8 large aperture and a 135 degree wide-angle lens, covering three-lane driving record, external camera supports manual adjustment, maximum deflection angle up to 10 degrees, etc.

HUAWEI HiCar currently supports 30 plus Apps, including the mainstream navigation Apps like Baidu and AutoNavi and the music Apps of NetEase Cloud Music, Migu and Sougou.

Huawei in-car smart display is priced at 1,699 yuan($260). Presale will kick off on Dec. 30 with the online and offline sales channels opening at the same time.
