BlackBerry will not be switching to an online-only business model

In a lot of countries, finding a BlackBerry 10 smartphone in a physical store is a challenge which has led to a lot of discussion recently that BlackBerry was considering making the switch to an online-only business model in terms of device sales.

In an interview with Highlight Press, BlackBerry India distribution director Sameer Bhatia made it clear that physical store presences are here to stay:

“We believe that both traditional retail formats outlets and online platforms are complementary strategies that brands need to harness to ensure complete consumer access and reach,”

“Recently with the launch of the new BlackBerry Z3 we partnered with both The Mobile Store and Flipkart to offer consumers an exciting pre-launch offer”

“The offer was very well received by the consumers, proving that both brick & mortar and online formats have become an integral part of a brand’s retail strategy.”

With the upcoming launch of the BlackBerry Passport, BlackBerry will have been working hard with carriers and retail stores to ensure the Passport gets the distribution it deserves.
