New BlackBerry device coming with 1440×1440 resolution

The other day we reported how the BlackBerry 10.3 Developer OS was available to BlackBerry developers. BlackBerry have today announced the release of the 10.3 SDK Beta.

In announcing the new SDK Beta, BlackBerry revealed that a new upcoming device will gave a resolution of 1440 resolution with a pixel density of 435 DPI.

“Another important note for developers is that BlackBerry 10.3 is targeted only for new device hardware being introduced later this year. This new hardware will follow our promise of keeping the square screen (1:1 aspect ratio) and 16:9 aspect ratio, including our common 720×720 and 1280×720 resolutions.”

Coming with a square screen, this will more than likely be a physical keyboard device, and from what we currently know, will be a 4.5″ screen.

From a developer aspect, developers will be able to target the device immediately, ensuring that their apps are ready for whenever the device is available.

“Also, when you fire up the 10.3 beta simulator, you’ll notice another square screen. This is for a new device with a 1440×1440 resolution and pixel density of 453 DPI.”
