EE recalling Power Bar Chargers due to fire safety risk

EE is recalling all Power Bars belonging to a batch named E1-06, conceding that the bars pose fire safety risks due to overheating. The operator added that the Power Bars will be returned or replaced once investigations are concluded.

The urgent recall has now impacted over 500,000 customers across the country.

If you have a Power Bar from batch E1-06, stop charging and using it.

“EE has identified a very small number of incidents where Power Bars have overheated, all of which relate to batch E1-06 (written as Model:E1-06 on the side of the device), and could pose a fire safety risk.

We’re therefore recalling batch E1-06 and request that customers stop using them and return their device to a local EE store at their earliest convenience.

Power Bars from any other batch aren’t affected by this recall.”

As a gesture of goodwill, EE is now offering £20 vouchers to all affected users to spend on accessories in the meantime.

Simply head to your local EE store and hand the unit in. If you happen to own a Power Bar from another batch, EE states you should be absolutely fine. In the meantime, EE has suspended its swap program until the investigation is complete.

For those who are unable to get to an EE store, you can call their information line on 0800 079 0305.
