Carval Computing has today announced that its HR Unity app is now available for download directly from the Apple iTunes App Store and from the Google Play Store. The new app, which runs with HR Unity version 5.3, available from 14 December, complements HR Unity desktop and web payroll, HR and T&A software solutions. The app has features and functions for both staff and managers and is designed for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

It requires iOS 6 or later and is optimised for iPhone 5. The Android version works on all devices running Android v2.3 and onwards.

The new app supports more up to date and flexible ways of working. Employees can:

  • Request an absence
  • View absence history
  • Check holiday, time off in lieu (TOIL) and flexitime balances
  • View their HR Unity Online inbox
  • View Time and Attendance clockings
  • View upcoming and historical Rosters

Managers are able to keep track of their team, while on the move. In addition to the features listed above managers can:

  • View upcoming and historical absences for the team
  • View team member contact details, and contact them (via phone or text) from within the App
  • Approve and reject absence requests made by the team

The HR Unity app will soon be followed by the HR Unity Time & Attendance app (on both Apple App Store and Google Play) which enables staff to clock in an out from their mobile devices. The app makes use of location data, so that employees must be at an authorised location (ie. office, site, factory) in order to clock in. The app is flexible enough to also allow different sub-sets of employees to clock in from different locations, so home or mobile workers could clock in from any location.

John Ovington, Sales and Support Director at Carval Computing stated;

“At Carval we are committed to providing innovative and flexible solutions for our clients. Our mobile apps give our users yet another way to access our software. The ubiquitous nature of Apple Apps and Google Play means that it is now second nature for people to download apps to their phones and mobile devices. This makes the roll out of these solutions much quicker and easier for our customers, and ensures a faster take up by staff, with minimal training overheads.”

HR Unity v5.3 features an all new Self-Service module which uses newer technology that provides a more robust, centralised platform for supporting multiple user device types. HR Unity v5.3 also provides a new dashboard facility which can be user defined to show their most used or important items, easier navigation and a whole host of tweaks and modifications that streamline usability and enhance productivity. HR Unity v5.3 is available from 14 December.
