Google Assistant
Google is making it possible to use the voice command “Hey Google” to not just open but also perform specific tasks within Android apps. The feature will be rolled out to all Google Assistant-enabled Android phones, allowing users to launch apps with their voice as well as search inside apps or perform specific tasks.

Pixel 4a 5g Pixel 5
In addition to launching the Pixel 5 today, Google unveiled the Pixel 4a 5G, a larger, 5G-enabled version of Google’s mid-range smartphone the Pixel 4a. It features a bigger 6.2in screen, larger battery, the same two cameras on the back and the same Snapdragon 765G chip as the Pixel 5, but has the same plastic body and design as its smaller, cheaper sibling.
Chromecast with Google TV
Google has launched a new version of its Chromecast media-streaming stick that is a bit different to its popular predecessors. It still works as a Chromecast receiver, meaning you can cast photos, audio and video from your phone, but it also has a new smart TV experience called Google TV.

Sony Xperia 5 II
Sony today unveiled Xperia 5 II, the company's second 5G enabled smartphone, offering a new internal heat dissipation system and a 120Hz refresh rate OLED and 240Hz sample rate touch input. The new Xperia 5 II (read as mark two) takes many of the features from Xperia 1 II.
Google Pixel 4a
Google launched the Pixel 4a back in August, and the mid-range smartphone is is now available to pre-order on O2, ahead of it going on sale on 1st October. The Pixel 4a has a 4.5% bigger screen than its predecessor but its body is 5.8% smaller overall. At only 144mm in length, 69.4mm in width, 8.8mm in thickness and weighing 143g, the Pixel 4a is one of the smallest phones you can buy in 2020.
Android 11
Google has officially rolled out Android 11 and in addition to its own Pixel brand, the following companies will be the first to offer downloads of Android 11: OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo and RealMe. Samsung, Huawei and LG typically take a little longer to adapt new features to their own user interfaces.
Samsung Galaxy S20

This meant that If, for instance, someone has stolen your phone and turned off the data and WiFi antennae, you might still be able to track it down.

AAWireless
Developer Emil Borconi-Szdressy recently launched an Indiegogo campaign for an AAWireless USB dongle that adds wireless Android Auto to your existing car. You’ll need a car infotainment system with wired Android Auto support. While that’s increasingly commonplace, it does rule out upgrading an older ride.
Coronavirus
Google and Apple have updated their COVID-19 contact-tracing tool to make it possible to notify users of potential exposures to the novel coronavirus without a dedicated exposure app. Previously, users had to download a dedicated app from their local public health organisation in order for it to work, but now, both companies are integrating the technology more directly into their operating systems.
ZTE Axon 20 5G
ZTE has launched the first Android smartphone with a selfie camera under its screen. ZTE has leveraged additional under-display technologies, including ambient light, sound, and fingerprint sensors to achieve a true full screen without any punch holes. The innovative light sensor can automatically adjust the screen brightness in accordance to the light environment, allowing the display to be seen clearly anytime.
Google Maps
Google Maps is now showing traffic light locations to users on Android and iOS. This is a server-side update, meaning that it should appear in your Google Maps app automatically. The feature is visible on both iPhones and Android smartphones for driving and walking directions, but the icon is static and not a live view
One-UI-2.5
Samsung is now rolling out One UI 2.5 to the Galaxy S20 series, bringing some of the most popular features from the Note20 series, and will be applied to other Galaxy devices gradually. One UI 2.5 brings with it a ton of new features including camera app enhancements and new features, wireless DeX mode, some slight UI and interface improvements, plus tons more under the hood tweaks.
OnwardMobility
Despite it's many failures with their smartphones, it would appear that BlackBerry have not given up on producing smartphones. In a surprise announcement Wednesday, Startup OnwardMobility announced agreements with BlackBerry and FIH Mobile, a subsidiary of Foxconn, to deliver a new 5G BlackBerry Android smartphone with physical keyboard, in the first half of 2021 in North America and Europe.
Lawsuit
An Android app developer has sued Google for allegedly anti-competitive and unlawful practices related to its Google Play app store, and attorneys say its behaviour – which gives rise to U.S. Android developers having to pay it exorbitant fees – constitutes violation of federal antitrust laws, according to Hagens Berman.
Telegram
Telegram has rolled out a new update bringing an alpha version of video calling on both Android and iOS. You can start a video call from your contact's profile page, and switch video on or off at any time during voice calls. Like all other video content on Telegram, video calls support picture-in-picture mode, allowing you to scroll through chats and multitask while maintaining eye contact.
TikTok
TikTok collected device-specific addresses of users’ smartphones via its Android app for at least 15 months, using a technique that Google has banned developers from using without user consent, a Wall Street Journal analysis has reportedly found.
Nearby Share
Google is rolling out Nearby Share from today, finally giving Android users its own version of Apple’s AirDrop. Compatible with Android 6.0+ devices, Nearby Share promises much smoother file, link, and content exchanges between phones and tablets, as long as the two devices are in fairly close proximity.
Tecno Mobile Spark 5
TECNO Mobile has launched the Spark 5 smartphone, equipped with five cameras, a 5,000 mAh battery and a 6.6 inch dot-in-display. The Spark 5 will feature TECNO's HI OS 6.0 straight out of the box, which is built on Android Q, and will be available globally.
LG Velvet
