Apple today unveiled Apple Watch Series 6, bringing a Blood Oxygen feature that offers users even more insight into their overall wellness. Watch Series 6 has a similar square design and always-on screen to its predecessor and comes in two sizes and a range of materials and colours. It has a 20% faster S6 processor and a screen that’s 2.5 times brighter when outside and not actively being used.

Apple countersued Epic Games on Tuesday, claiming the company breached a contract when it introduced a new in-app payment system within the popular video game Fortnite. Apple asked U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers for punitive damages and to block Epic from continuing what it calls unfair business practices, in the escalating skirmish between the two companies

Apple will be holding a virtual event, focusing on Apple Watch and iPad announcements, from Apple Park on September 15. Apple usually organises a slick event every fall from its Cupertino, California-based headquarters or another location in Silicon Valley but this event will be only online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apple is delaying its requirement that app developers get opt-in permission before tracking iPhone users, which had been set to go into effect with the release of iOS 14 this fall. After complaints from partners, the company said it will delay that requirement until early 2021.

Google and Apple have updated their COVID-19 contact-tracing tool to make it possible to notify users of potential exposures to the novel coronavirus without a dedicated exposure app. Previously, users had to download a dedicated app from their local public health organisation in order for it to work, but now, both companies are integrating the technology more directly into their operating systems.

Apple has released iOS 13.7, which introduces a new Exposure Notifications System directly baked into the OS, to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning new system no longer requires a separate app to be downloaded. Google Maps is now showing traffic light locations to users on Android and iOS. This is a server-side update, meaning that it should appear in your Google Maps app automatically. Apple today launched two new live global radio offerings on Apple Music, now available to music fans in 165 countries. Beginning today, Beats 1, the flagship global radio station, will be renamed Apple Music 1, and two additional radio stations will launch: Apple Music Hits, with songs from the ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s, and Apple Music Country, spotlighting country music.
