Samsung rolls out update for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in UK

Samsung has pushed out an over-the-air update for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge owners in the UK, bringing  a number of changes and fixes.

The update is rolling to both unlocked and carrier-branded variants of the handsets. The new firmware versions — G930FXXU1APD3 and G935FXXU1APD3 — include a new feature that’s dedicated to correcting “skewed photos”, along with enhancements for the palm rejection functionality that ships on board the Galaxy S7 edge.  This means that users should no longer find themselves opening up apps and placing calls when holding the device with their hand wrapped around the curved display.

Samsung has also included Google’s April Android security patch into the update.

If you are on EE, the new update also enables support for EE’s Wi-Fi calling. Upon updating, the option is automatically enabled under Settings > Wi-Fi Calling in the Phone app.

To see if the upgrade is ready for your device, head into “Settings”, “About Device”, “Software Update”, then hit the “Update Now” button.

Alternatively, you can wait until you receive a push notification prompting you to download and install the update from Samsung’s servers.
