Another Executive leaves BlackBerry as Varghese Thomas quits

Another day and another BlackBerry exec leaves the company. This time it’s Varghese M. Thomas‎, Director – Corporate Communications – India & SAARC at BlackBerry India who has left for pastures new.

Thomas has been at BlackBerry since April 2011 as Director – Corporare Communications – India & SAARC. During that period he took additional responsibility (for just short of three years) to drive and provide Strategic guidance and leadership in Greater China Region (China, HK and Taiwan).

Thomas is an experienced leader in Corporate Communications, Facilitating execution of public relations programs in line with the organization’s business objectives.

It is another executive loss for BlackBerry in India. Just over two months ago that Sunil Lalvani quit. At that point he was Managing Director of BlackBerry India. Lalvani has since taken over head of India Operations at Qualcomm.

“BlackBerry remains committed to the India market and looks forward to continuing to work closely with our customers and partners,” a company spokesperson said.

“As BlackBerry moves into the next stage of its turnaround, we remain focused on capitalising on growth opportunities while driving toward sustainable profitability across all businesses.

Interestingly, BlackBerry has still to appoint a new Managing Director for India, with Matthew Tonkin, VP, Carrier Sales and Distribution, APAC, currently leading operations in India.
