A Washington-based non-profit group called the Coalition for a Safer Web has sued Apple for not removing the Telegram app from the App Store. The group alleges that the platform is being used by hate groups and extremists to attack the Capitol.

Nokia’s cloud-native, 5G Core software has been selected by SoftBank to enable the launch of SoftBank’s standalone 5G services. Nokia will help support new consumer and enterprise use cases, such as immersive experiences (VR/AR/MR), fixed wireless access, video surveillance and analytics, cloud robotics and connected vehicles with a standalone 5G Core in global markets.
Three Ireland
Three Ireland has switched on its 5G network in Ireland, deploying around 315 base stations, giving a total coverage of around 35% of the Irish population. Around 500 more are expected to be deployed by the end of 2020, with Three having invested around €100 million in the rollout over the last year

Google and Apple have updated their COVID-19 contact-tracing tool to make it possible to notify users of potential exposures to the novel coronavirus without a dedicated exposure app. Previously, users had to download a dedicated app from their local public health organisation in order for it to work, but now, both companies are integrating the technology more directly into their operating systems.

Australia is drafting a new regulation that Facebook says misunderstands the dynamics of the internet and will do damage to the very news organisations the government is trying to protect. The UK Supreme Court today unanimously dismissed appeals by China’s Huawei and ZTE in patent disputes over mobile data technology with Unwired Planet International and Conversant Wireless. It is the first time that a UK court has issued a decision on what constitutes a fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND) commitment to licence standard-essential patents (SEPs).

Huawei has achieved a top speed of 3.67Gbps downlink with multiple 5G smartphones in one 5G cell in Zürich. The feat was achieved across multiple 5G smartphones connected to a single 5G cell on Swiss carrier Sunrise’s live commercial network, which is to say that the transfer speed isn’t theoretical or coming from a lab environment.
