The BBC has produced a promotional video for Huawei, which has angered some BBC journalists. The video, titled “The Real Story of Huawei,” features Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei describing how the company grew from a small company into a global smartphone and telecoms giant.
The European version of the Huawei nova 5T is now available in the UK. The nova 5T is the first Huawei phone available in the UK with a hole punch display à la Samsung’s Galaxy S10 series. The device boasts a 6.26-inch LCD display with a 1080p resolution.
Virgin Media is ditching the EE mobile network (BT) when its contract expires and will move its three million-plus mobile customers to Vodafone. A five year has been agreed between Virgin and Vodafone and extends until 2026. Virgin Media will have access to the full range of Vodafone technology and services, including 5G. Indeed, Virgin Media 5G will be powered by Vodafone even before the present deal with BT expires.
O2 has launched a new range of Pay-As-You-Go Bundles, which include unlimited calls and texts as standard but require you to top-up every month in order to get the allowance. The bundles include O2 Priority, (with unique member benefits and discounts).
The decision on whether to allow Huawei to play a role in constructing the UK’s 5G network has been delayed until after the general election. Outgoing culture secretary, Nicky Morgan, confirmed the decision would now be made after the general election on 12 December.
Chip manufacturer ARM is to resume its supply of chips to Huawei after cutting them off in May thanks to the US-China trade war. ARM  has concluded an investigation by its legal team which found its designs are of UK origin, and so supplying the Chinese tech manufacturer with them would not breach the embargo placed on Huawei by the US.
O2 has unveiled a new experimental store format in partnership with retailer, NEXT. The pilot, known by O2 as Shop-in-Shop, will see four new O2 stores opened within NEXT stores across the country, with ambitions to roll out more widely in the coming months.

Huawei is more trusted by the UK public than Facebook, according to the results of a UK consumer survey conducted by Censuswide. The survey examined attitudes towards the big messaging platform providers (i.e. Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp), as well as wider consumer trust in the technology sector.
